First we had the nomination, then came the announcement and finally, after a long wait, the day of the ceremony arrived and Calia Italia’s Lazy, a modular sofa designed by Studio Pastina, received the German Design Award 2020 in the category of ‘Excellent Product Design – Furniture’.
The event took place at the Environment Fair on 7th February in Frankfurt. This international exhibition is dedicated to consumer goods and is held every year in the halls of Messe Frankfurt.
The German Design Award saw over 5000 projects, from 69 countries, submitted to the German Design Council, which is why Calia Italia and Studio Pastina could not be prouder of Lazy’s success.
“We have often thought of the Lazy sofa as a sort of giant marshmallow,” say Domenico Santoro and Francesca Puddu of Studio Pastina.
From the very beginning, this sofa was conceived as an object with soft and welcoming lines, without edges and capable of evoking the iconographic idea of comfort: the cushion.
From the single module, which can be used as an armchair, to the larger compositions, the Lazy sofa has been designed to create multiple combinations. Furthermore, its extreme modularity and variety of finishes makes it suitable for any type of space and capable of responding to multiple needs.
Only a few signs, both essential and at the same time friendly, give shape to the Lazy sofa. It fits naturally into the contemporary domestic scene and is synonymous with the deep sensitivity of craftsmanship required to calibrate aesthetics and function in a perfect synthesis.
Congratulations Lazy!
