Though the armchair is a more discreet piece of furniture than the sofa, it is just as essential. It can also be a true design piece that is complementary to the sofa and functional, providing a much better comfort experience than a chair or footstool. Today, there is a very wide choice of armchair and it is possible to find an armchair that matches the style of one’s furniture or gives that touch of elegance and comfort that enriches the home environment. Among the main trends for autumn 2022, we see a focus on sustainability (in terms of the upholstery and materials used in the creation of armchairs and sofas), the predominance of rounded and enveloping lines (a rediscovery of the 70s style, reinterpreted in a modern way) and a predilection for Scandinavian style and colours – even the brightest ones.
Would you like to discover the most beautiful models to take inspiration from? Here are the on-trend armchairs from Calia Italia that will make your heart beat faster in late 2022.

Among the new entries from Calia Italia are ‘Drusilla’, ‘Silla’ and ‘Milla’, three armchairs from the ‘Gourmandise Collection’ that were presented at this year’s Milan Furniture Fair. All three nod to the 1970s, but they also look great in contemporary settings – with just the right vintage touch.
Going into more detail, ‘Drusilla’ is a conversation armchair characterised by a shallow seat and a cosy backrest that allows you to comfortably rest your arms. It is particularly suitable for those who love style combined with great comfort.
‘Milla’ has smaller dimensions and is perfect for those who do not have much space. Characterised by a round, embracing backrest and a circular seat, it is a decidedly multifaceted armchair as it is available in three different versions: fixed with a slender, decorative foot, a swivel closed base version and a swivel open based version.
Finally, ‘Silla’ is characterised by feet that rise up the backrest, connecting with the seat. The feet, a distinctive element of the model, can be made of metal or wood thereby giving rise to two models with different shapes: the first more stylised and the second more rounded.
‘Lady G’ is the English version of the ‘Giuggiola’ (Calia Italia’s iconic armchair inspired by the braids of Matera’s women) which also features the ‘Madame G’, the French version. This model, like its ‘sisters’, is available in swivel versions with or without a seat-container and differs from the others in the shape of the backrest that wraps around it, which is decorated with 4 central buttons and a special front fastening.
While the seat remains unchanged in its classic tail shape, in the ‘Lady G’ the upholstery actually looks like an evening gown, represented by a soft quilted duvet, reminiscent of those in the latest fashion collections. It is the perfect armchair for those colder seasons and has that proverbial English aristocratic elegance.
If you are looking for an armchair that is more informal than the previous models, suitable for any type of furnishing whilst still offering a great comfort experience, the model for you is definitely ‘Norman’.
This armchair is characterised by a forward-sloping tubular metal frame, with a shell and armrests upholstered in regenerated leather and accommodating a soft backrest designed to offer maximum comfort.
One of Calia Italia’s top models is definitely ‘Jacob’, an armchair that can have a high or low backrest and is characterised by a soft seat thanks to its feather padding.
Inspired by the classic style of bergère reading chairs, ‘Jacob’ has been reinterpreted by Calia Italia and made by combining natural leathers and fine fabrics. It is a true icon for unparalleled comfort!
