Calia Italia among Confindustria’s Showcase Factories
It is with great pride that Calia Italia can announce that it has been included in the ‘Fabbriche Vetrina’ (Showcase Factories) project of the Digital Innovation Hub of Confindustria – an innovative tool created to support the digital transformation of businesses.
‘Showcase Factories’ are companies with a strong and continuous digital evolution, whose advanced solutions are perfectly integrated within their production processes thanks to one or more technologies characteristic of Industry 4.0. With ‘Fabbriche Vetrina’, Calia Italia is one of the Italian SMEs that has opened up to other companies via information and training initiatives for the various stakeholders in the sector.
Calia Italia’s technological innovation process involves the entire production chain, so let’s go through all of the steps of the company’s evolution.
1. ‘Design Concept 3D’
Software The company’s design and engineering activities boast cutting-edge IT and digital tools such as the ‘Design Concept 3D’ software, which has launched a project to digitalise the design and development phases of new products through the use of 3D models.
2. Automatic Cutting Machines
Our production activities have introduced machines for automatic fabric cutting, which have also been fully digitalised. Now, CAD information is automatically transferred to the cutting platform connected to the machine, which performs the processing and returns the feedback to the sender.
3. Automated Warehouse
Since 2005, logistics has been relying on a fully automated warehouse with over 10,000 storage positions, which interfaces with a platform that carries out the basic activities for the correct handling of incoming and outgoing sofas.
More recently, we have introduced an interface for real-time consultation of the position and status of our products. We’ve added tools that make it possible to monitor our stock in the warehouse and to optimise the loading phase of transportation by leveraging information from the management system.
4. The 3D Configurator
Calia Italia was also the first Italian company in the sector to boast a 3D product configurator, a web tool that allows you to use a computer or tablet to shape your ideal sofa from the comfort of your home. Once you have created your own model, Calia Italia’s 3D Configurator offers you the possibility to get in touch with your nearest retailer and get the best offer on your chosen model.
5. The Virtual Showroom
The digitalisation of our business practices has allowed Calia Italia to remain consistent in our strong commitment towards innovation and resilience, which has always characterised our vision and outlook.
With this in mind, last April (during the first lockdown) Calia Italia launched its first Virtual Showroom, a fully interactive virtual exhibition space that represents an important point of contact between customers and the company – even from a distance.
In particular, The 3D Configurator and Virtual Showroom are parts of Your Virtual Experience project, a digital path made possible thanks to projects made with technology and emotions. It is a project that has been created to open the doors of the company and its collections to customers, all while remaining comfortably at home.
